Sticking to a health plan is the #1 issue I hear my clients say: “I just can’t stick to my weight loss plan.” How many diets have we tried? How many diets have we stuck to? Sticking to your weight loss plan can be difficult, but if you follow the tips I am going to share with you, sticking to your weight loss plan is absolutely feasible.

Create a Weight Loss plan

A weight loss plan is your intention of what you are going to do to achieve your weight loss goal. It explains in detail what needs to be done. This may include diagrams, charts, bullet points, lists…any resource to specify the course of action needed to take. Some create a vision board, some map it out like a roadmap. The key here is not to get caught up in the details of how the plan looks or is structure – but more that the plan is well thought out and accounts for possibilities for failure.

Change your Mindset

Let’s face it – your thoughts or mindset about your weight is an issue. If it wasn’t, you probably wouldn’t be reading this post, correct? Your thoughts will influence your feelings, which will then influence your behaviors and the vicious cycle starts all over again. Mindsets are just beliefs. And what you “tell” yourself is what you believe (did you know we listen to what we are telling ourselves more than anyone else?). Are you telling yourself you are not enough? Or are you telling yourself you are worth it, to have the body and health you deserve?

Stay Accountable

We all need accountability. Find a partner, loved one, BFF from college…but find a partner that truly is going to support you in the easy times and when times get tough. If this isn’t your first rodeo, tell them when and what makes you fall off. Tell them what fires you up. What are you thinking? What are you feeling? Don’t leave anything out.

You ABSOLUTELY can stick to a weight loss plan. It’s not about what you have done in the past that didn’t work – it’s your plan that DIDN’T WORK.
