Can you remember some of those cartoons with rainbows and unicorns where everything was pink, happy and full of magic sprinkles? I see and hear so much on social media about unicorns. And while unicorns are magical and fictitious, there is something to be admired about these amazing little creatures. The unicorn symbolizes hope and positivity. They just automatically put a smile on my face.
So what do unicorns and sprinkles have to do with health and nutrition? Well, when was the last time you had a great, positive, perhaps even inspirational conversation? Who was that conversation with? A friend or co-worker, perhaps? Let me ask you this – when was the last time you had that type of conversation with yourself?
In my younger days, before nutrition was even a thought, the conversations I had with myself were, well, let’s just say I wasn’t that nice to myself. I was usually in a place of loss or stress, and I just didn’t feel like I deserved anything different. This was my life, and I had to accept what was given to me, right?
Well, yes and no. Now, I know I need to be open to what life has in store for me, but I also know that whatever thoughts, feelings, and emotions I put OUT there may be blocking opportunities to achieve what I want in life, and they will also contribute to lowering my self-worth.
So, if my conversations with myself are negative…what are the chances that I will be able to achieve or receive what I truly desire in my heart? Or have any peace?
If you tend to be a little hard on yourself, it doesn’t have to be this way. There are steps you can take toward having the life you want and the peace to go along with it.
Ask yourself these questions around a particular negative thought or emotion and journal the answers:
- What am I feeling?
- What do I believe?
- What is the truth?
- What positive action step can I take around this? It’s okay to question our feelings because often our feelings don’t reflect what’s true. Make sure to do this last step. Nine times out of ten it will change how you feel about yourself, leaving you much better equipped to pursue what you desire in your life.
This is not an easy task, but it’s extremely helpful. Challenge your thinking and your beliefs about your worth. I promise you; it will lead you to positive changes that will, in turn, lead you to situations, opportunities, and relationships that you truly desire. And remember, you are UNIQUE; there is no other you in this world. That makes you PRECIOUS and a TREASURE – just the way you are. Don’t you dare forget it!
To your Health,
Patti
