New or old, your goals are always there on your mind. They’re super important to you, not only for your health but also for your overall wellbeing! Although you might be thinking of setting new ones for the new year, let’s take a quick look at the past year and reflect on your current goals first.

How’d you come out? Did you kick each and every goal’s butt?! Did a few seem to fizzle out after initial launch? If you want to seriously take on 2018 like a pro, consider a few of these terms and conditions before signing up for the new year.

 Follow The Week-Long Rule

Saying, “I’m going to cut out excess sugar!” is great! Buuut it sounds a little too broad for any real progress to shine through. Consider divvying up your long-term goals into weekly pieces and be specific. Instead of the broadness of cutting sugar, make the week goal of ditching the soda for a less sugary option (green tea or water with lemon or lime!). This way, you can visibly see your progress and the goal isn’t as daunting. You won’t end up overwhelmed and will be able to actually monitor the progress easier.

Invite Old Goals Back

As mentioned above, some goals end up being too broad, but they still have amazing potential! Try taking some of those previously disremembered goals and re-create them! Were they honestly too broad? How can you tweak them to work better for you? Maybe consider breaking them up into the week by week state.

Remember, not having a goal is a bad idea! You have all the potential to accomplish anything you set your mind to; it just takes the right approach and the mindset to succeed, along with some planning.

Don’t be too hard on yourself this year. The last thing you want is to cause stress on your over things that should be positive changes. As well as physical health, your mental wellbeing is a top priority in 2018.

Take a half hour to list a goal that you want to accomplish this year, and break it down into specific action steps that make sense and work for you and your life.

It’s going to be an amazing year. Cheers to you and all you’re capable of doing!
