Smoothies are a great way to lose weight yet not lose the nutrition our bodies need. Here are some of my favorite smoothie recipes for weight loss:

All smoothies make 1-2 servings

A FEW TIPS FOR MAKING DELICIOUS SMOOTHIES:
  • Feel free to add water to thin out a smoothie.
  • Use organic produce whenever possible.
  • Each smoothie recipe serves two people or can be used as a substitute for one large meal.
  • Protein is important in the morning. You can add extra protein to any smoothie by including a scoop of your favorite protein powder. Try hemp protein by Nutiva, Pea Protein, or simply add 3 tablespoons of hemp seeds. If you don’t have any dairy sensitivity/allergy, grass-fed organic whey protein powder is a great choice also.
  • If you have a high-speed blender, add all the ingredients in the order they are listed (WITHOUT the ice). Blend until smooth. If you want your smoothie to be colder, add the ice and blend. Feel free to add water to reach your desired thickness.
  • You can choose to add fruit to any vegetable smoothie to add sweetness. Try ½ cup berries, ½ apple, or ½ banana.
  • All smoothies can be sweetened with 1-2 tablespoons of raw honey or coconut sugar or opt for a no sugar sweetener such as stevia, which is what I use and recommend, as it doesn’t spike your blood sugar. I suggest 2-3 drops or 2 tiny scoops (if powdered) of stevia per smoothie
Looking for a few ideas to add to your smoothie? Add in any one of the following:
  • hemp seeds
  • flax seeds
  • chia seeds
  • spirulina
  • bee pollen
  • shredded coconut
  • raw cacao
  • superfoods (maca, lucuma, wheatgrass powder)
  • matcha powder (contains caffeine)
  • detox greens: dandelion, parsley, cilantro, radish
  • sprouts of any kind
  • camu camu for vitamin C
  • protein powder
  • goji berries, currants, dates (limit if weight loss is desired)
