Despite main-stream thinking, D-E-T-O-X is not SCARY! Detox is a cleansing process where the body rids itself of toxins and waste that has built up in the body. Think of it as going to the dentist. Yes, we all hate going, but after our teeth are cleaned, we can’t stop rubbing our like-new pearly whites. Detoxing is about lessening the toxic load in the body. What’s scary about that?
Before I dive deeper into detox, let’s start out by talking about the benefits.
Physical Detox
The physical benefits of detoxing are probably the most noticeable. Most people experience weight loss and/or clothes fitting better. A typical benefit of detoxing is having and feeling more energy. As we eliminate the waste, the body feels “lighter” and has more energy.
Mental Detox
Say bye-bye to brain fog! The mental benefits of detoxing are also noticeable, but usually with more extended periods of detoxing. That is why I offer an 11-Day Summer Detox program that is food-based and gentle. You see a lot of 24-hour or 3-day detoxes, and while those are a great jumpstart to get your feet wet, you need to participate longer than that for a detox to take full effect. Longer detox mental benefits include a clearer mind, sharper focus, and concentration as well as better sleep.
Mood
So, how does detoxing affect your general mood? Well, did you know that 90% of our feel-good neurotransmitter Serotonin is made in our gut? As bad bacteria and yeast are swept away, our gut can operate efficiently, and our moods change for the better.
Lifestyle
As you can see, there’s a lot of good, positive changes going on when we detox. Our bodies are naturally addicted to what feels good. When our body and mind feel good, guess what? Our attitude changes. Before you know it, you have changed your legacy and your lifestyle, through these changes.
Sounds amazing, right? It starts with one decision. A decision for yourself. This is not selfish; you are putting on the oxygen mask first so you can serve others. This is your one life. And you are WORTH living your best possible life. Do you believe this?
To your health,
Patti
